STANLEY boss John Coleman is hopeful of adding a new signing before the Reds home game with Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Coleman is keen to strengthen up front and also bring in a goalkeeper as competition for Jonny Maxted.

The Reds have just Kayden Jackson and Billy Kee as senior strikers on the books but the Reds chief is hopeful of boosting his numbers before Tony Pulis’ Championship side arrive at the Wham Stadium for the weekend friendly.

Coleman, speaking after his side won 3-0 at Hyde United on Tuesday night, said: “We are still looking to bring two or three in but we will know more by the end of the week. I would like to have someone in before Middlesbrough.”

Stanley included an unnamed trialist in the XI at Hyde but the centre back was forced off injured in the first half and Coleman admitted he wasn’t sure what the future held for the defender.

Asked whether he could feature against Boro, Coleman said: “I don’t know yet, I’ve got to speak to his agent.”

On the injury, the Stanley manager added: “He’s just got a bad knock. We will look at that over the next couple of days.”
