ROVERS boss Tony Mowbray revealed there has been interest in squad players Sam Hart and Ben Gladwin.

The pair were not involved at Vale Park on Saturday when Rovers drew 1-1 with Port Vale in their second pre-season game of the summer.

Hart and Gladwin are nursing knocks while Paul Caddis, another who didn’t travel with the squad, was deemed not fit enough to feature.

Asked about the trio after the game, Mowbray said: “Two of them are injured and there is interest from elsewhere as well.

“They were unavailable otherwise they would have been here. Sam Hart has got a slight thigh strain, Ben Gladwin has an issue with his knee and Caddis is unavailable at the moment for fitness reasons really. He is working twice a day every day and he’ll be ready soon.”

The trio also weren’t involved in the pre-season opener at Hibernian on July 7.

Hart, 21, joined Rovers from Liverpool last summer but has yet to start a league game for the club.

He made seven appearances for Rovers last term before joining Rochdale on loan in the second half of the season when he played just three times.

A League One club is thought to be keen on taking Hart on loan, a move Rovers could sanction with Derrick Williams and Amari’i Bell currently in front of him in the first-team pecking order.

Rovers also have promising youngster Jack Doyle on their books after he returned from a productive loan spell with League of Ireland outfit Derry City.

Gladwin, 26, struggled with injury last season, making just 11 appearances none of which came after early November.

It is understood a League Two club enquired about taking the attacking midfielder on loan in January before the seriousness of his knee injury which ended his season was known.

Caddis, featured more regularly, appearing 20 times including 13 league starts, though just one of them came after the New Year’s Day draw at Rotherham United.

Meanwhile, Mowbray revealed Danny Graham, who missed the trip to Staffordshire with a slight knock, should be fit enough to return for the home game with Liverpool on Thursday but the striker will not be risked if he is not 100 per cent fit.

Of the chances of the frontman featuring against the Reds Mowbray said: “I hope so, but we won’t be taking any risks through pre-season.

“Danny is generally doing one session a day at the moment and there was no need to take any risks with him (at Port Vale) to play in a game he didn’t need to play.

“He is getting plenty of physical activity at the training ground. We will see whether he is ready for Thursday.”
