Jurgen Klopp has revealed that new signing Xherdan Shaqiri and attacking trio Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane won’t feature in the friendly with Rovers on Thursday.

But plenty of star-studded names are set to be included, such as summer recruits Nabi Keita and Fabinho.

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Bury on Saturday in which the likes of James Milner, Fabino, Virgil van Dijk and Daniel Sturridge started.

Klopp is likely to hand starts to those on the bench at Gigg Lane which included Keita, Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez and Adam Lallana.

The Reds fly out to America on Friday, the day after the Ewood Park trip, before their first match in the USA against Borussia Dortmund two days later.

They will also face Manchester City on July 25 and Manchester United on July 28 which is when Salah and Mane are most likely to return after their World Cup exertions.

Of Shaqiri, a £13million signing Stoke, Klopp told Liverpool’s club website: “Xherdan has been in, which was nice. He is a nice fella. He will be back in the USA.

“Hopefully he will now take a holiday there because it will be pretty easy to join us there.”

“He will not come with us (from Liverpool) but he can be involved, which will be nice.

“Salah and Mane will come to America with us, but they come back the 20th and we fly the 20th.

“It makes not too much sense that they play the 22th or the 25th.

“Maybe three days later in ‘the derby’ they can play.

“It’s good that they can come. Bobby Firmino is coming back after that, Xherdan Shaqiri is coming, and the last ones are the Belgium and England players. Then after the 5th we can prepare for the season.”
