DANNY Williams has signed a one-year deal with Accrington Stanley and is hoping to make an impact in the first team.

Winger Williams came to the Wham Stadium in January after his release from Dundee but game time was limited due to Stanley’s stunning end to the season which ended with the Reds clinching the League Two title.

Williams, 30, is now looking ahead to this season where he hopes to make an impression in the starting XI, after making his Stanley debut at Wycombe last season.

“I love training, I enjoy being here and the lads are great, it sells itself with the club being in League One this season,” said Williams, who lives in Leigh.

“Last season was tough personally, it was great seeing the lads do well and you can’t say anything when the team who are playing are winning ten in a row and it was a superb season for the club. My aim this season is to try and get in the first team and hopefully we will surprise a few teams.

“I have been working hard, the gaffer has shown faith in me by offering me a new deal and I want to prove him right. When I get my chance, I have got to take it.

“I am really excited about the new season, it’s an exciting league and it’s where we want to be.”
