ENGLAND'S penalty hero Eric Dier has credited Nick Pope with helping him with his technique from 12 yards.
Dier dispatched the winning penalty against Columbia last night as the Three Lions won their first ever World Cup shootout to set up a quarter-final with Sweden.
While Burnley 'keeper Pope remained on the bench throughout, Dier has thanked him for his role in helping him prepare for taking a spot kick.
"Personally I've been having a little competition with Nick Pope," he told BBC 5Live.
"He deserves all the credit because he's the one who's helped me prepare for penalties. It's difficult to score penalties past him because he's huge, he helped me a lot."
