SEHAN Weerasinghe produced a fine all-round performance as Brinscall beat Salesbury to climb above them in Ribblesdale League Section B.

Weerasinghe took 5-45 then scored 92 as Brinscall, despite a late wobble, sealed a two wicket victory.

An opening stand of 46 between Liam Parkinson and Stephen Brown got Salesbury off to a steady start. When Parkinson departed, Brown, who went on to score 34, was joined by Hashen Ramanayake (35) who took the score to 125-2 - only for Salesbury to collapse to 155 all out, Weerasinghe (5-45) doing most of the damage.

Brinscall got off to an awful start and at one stage were 6-3. But Weerasinghe was joined by Stuart Parker (33) and they steadyied the ship, putting on 83 for the fourth wicket.

Weerasinghe continued to dominate the innings making 92 from 86 deliveries including nine fours and three sixes. Despite losing three wickets for one run, Brinscall got home by two wickets with three overs to spare.

League leaders Settle went to Baxenden and it was the hosts who elected to bat first. But after reaching 43-0, Baxenden slumped to 68-8 before being dismissed for 92. Sadian Ward was the pick of the bowlers taking 5-28.

Tom Stickland (34no) and Robbie Davidson (27no) saw Settle home by eight wickets with 24 overs to spare

Barnoldswick had similar struggles with the bat, slipping to 69-8 but Matt Haynes then made 61 from 81 balls, getting support from tail-enders Sajid Akhtar (11) Shoaib Khan(13 no) to reach a respectable 146 all out.

Bailey Richards took 6-49.

Read’s reply got off a good start from Michael Whalley (41) and they reached their target with eight wickets in hand and more than 20 overs to spare.

Padiham scored a supeb 215-9 against Feniscowles having been 76-5 at one stage despite Callum Clarke scoring 31.

Kevin Hitchon steadied the innings with 35 and the recovery was completed by Toby Burrows (41no) who put on an unbeaten 10th wicket partnership of 54 with Bailey Muldoon (19 no). Charlie Errey took 4-53.

Feniscowles made good progress with Lee Cunningham (37), Henco Murphy(37) and Jake Errey (64) to get to a position of 179-4 before collapsping to 197-9. In a tense finale, Fenny were grateful to number 11, Matt Hope who with an unbeaten 17 made sure it ended as a tie.

Euxton (226 all out) beat Earby (98 all out) with Aneeq Hassan top scoring with 57.

Cherry Tree (208-7) enjoyed a 49 run win against Ribblesdale Wanderers (159-8) thanks largel to the efforts of Louis Ferreira (59no) and Nas Iqbal (44).

Oswaldtwistle Immanuel’s title hopes were dented after losing to Whalley.

Batting first, Ossie reached 124-2 with Shubham Khajuria (50) and Daniel Metcalf (40) in fine form before crashing to 161 all out - Joel Blain taking an impressive 6-42.

Despite a poor start and losing late wickets, Whalley - with Declan Bailey top scoring with 63 - got over the line with two wickets in hand thanks to the efforts of Richard Palmer and Joseph Tattersall. Shubham Khajuria took 5-67.
