Rovers’ interest in Charlton Athletic defender Patrick Bauer could hit a stumbling block given the League One’s club's valuation of the 25-year-old.

Tony Mowbray is thought to be interested in a move for the German defender who has impressed for the Addicks, playing 37 times last season as they reached the League One play-offs.

But it is reported that Charlton would want £2millon for Bauer, despite the defender moving in to the final 12 months of his current deal.

Charlton have already lost 20-year-old prospect Ezri Konsa to Brentford for a fee in the region of £3million, and aren’t keen on adding Bauer to the list of departures from The Valley this summer.

Reports over the weekend suggested a fee in the region of £500,000 may be needed to secure the services of Bauer who signed from Maritimo in 2015.

Boss Lee Bowyer told the South London Press: “We’re not the only team where if players do well then other clubs become interested.

“It is just a fact of football.

“Patrick has done well. But the owner has put a price tag and it is whether a team is prepared to pay that. I can’t answer that.

“Patrick has had a good season and that has brought interest in him, which is understandable.”
