BURNLEY will find out their potential opponents for their historic return to Europe on Wednesday when the Europa League draw is made.

The Clarets are back in continental competition for the first time in 51 years and excitement is building as Sean Dyche's side wait to see who they are paired with.

Burnley enter the Europa League at the second qualifying round stage, with the ties to be played on July 26 and August 2.

The draw for that round will be made on a busy day at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, streamed live on UEFA's website from 12pm.

It is likely to be an 'either or' scenario for Burnley, with the draw for the first qualifying round also taking place tomorrow. Once that has been concluded the second qualifying round draw will take place, where the Clarets will be drawn out as one of the seeds.

Although UEFA don't confirm seedings until the day of the draw, Burnley will be seeded as a result of the Football Association's coefficient score, with the club unranked in Europe given their long absence from UEFA competitions.

A total of 94 teams enter in the first qualifying round, with ties taking place on July 12 and July 19.

Another 27 teams, including the Clarets, enter at the second qualifying round, as well as the 47 winners from the first stage.

Defender James Tarkowski is looking forward to seeing who Burnley will face.

“It will be nice to know where we could possibly be. There are that many teams included in the draw we could end up anywhere round Europe,” he said.

“It will be nice once we’ve seen the draw and see who we’ve got and then start getting our heads focusing on competitive football again.

“It’s another opportunity for us to show what we can do on a bigger stage.

“We have to hopefully advance through these qualifiers first, so there is work to be done and it comes up quite fast with the games being a bit earlier.

“It should be interesting, but I know the lads will be keeping themselves in good shape.

"I’ve seen a couple of them over the last few weeks and they all seem to be working hard wherever they are.

“We come back in a couple of weeks’ time and I’m sure everyone will be ready to go again.”
