IT is still all to play for in Group One of the Ribblesdale League 20/20 competition, with just two rounds of fixtures to go.

Unbeaten Brinscall continue to lead the way having come out on top of their run-fest at Cherry Tree.

The visitors batted first and made an impressive 214-2 thanks to a second wicket partnership of 194 between Joshua Andrew (50 not out) and Sehan Weerasinghe, who hit 124 off 66 balls, including six fours and 11 sixes.

Cherry Tree got off to a good start in reply with Mark Hadfield (35) and Stefan Klopper (34). However it was captain Jake Willacy who gave Cherry Tree the chance of an unlikely win as he made an unbeaten 101 from only 53 deliveries, including seven fours and as many sixes.

However, it was not enough as Cherry Tree ended 15 runs short of their target.

In Thursday night’s meeting Euxton ended Salebsury’s unbeaten run in the competition with a narrow 12-run win.

Euxton batted first and made 131-3, mainly due to an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 74 between James Bone (43 not out) and Mark Winrow (30 not out).

In reply Salesbury got off to a good start, with opener Liam Parkinson equalling a run a ball with his 31. And they remained in with a good chance while Hashen Ramanakake was at the crease. But once he was removed for 50 Euxton were able to keep the runs down to take the points.

There is a clearer picture at the top of Group Two with Settle and Ribblesdale Wanderers both qualifying for the quarter finals despite their head-to-head.

Ribblesdale managed to restrict the usually free flowing Settle batsmen to 127-9, and although Settle made them fight all the way, Ribblesdale got home with three wickets in hand.

A poor start in reply for Padiham resulted in defeat to neighbours Read on a hard pitch.

with both teams looking to move up the table. The pitch was hard and the outfield fast so lots of runs looked on the cards.

Read batted first and got off to a swift start with Matt Walker making 58 off only 30 balls in an opening stand of 82 with William Wrathall.

Wrathall, kept the momentum going with 59, however any thoughts of a 200-plus score were dismissed with the introduction of Curtis Meehan, who had the remarkable figures of 5 for12 and helped to reduce Read from 146-2 to their final total of 157-9.

Padiham got off to a poor start losing three early wickets, Ben Woodhall (2-21) getting considerable turn and bounce. Siviwe Gidana (36 not out) then joined Callum Clarke and in a partnership of 96 put Padiham in with an outside chance.

However, when Clarke was out for an excellent 76 off 59 balls, including five sixes, the lower order were unable to score at the required 10 an over and ended on 141-6, with Bailey Richards taking 3-23. Whalley got off to bad start with the early loss of Mark Fallon and Sam Sweeney against Baxenden, who finished on 145-8. A third wicket partnership between Stuart Crabtree (33) and Declan Bailey took the score up to 91. Bailey was eventually out for 48, and in a tight finish they ended seven runs short of their target. Josh Walker’s 3-32 proved vital.
