Marcus Antonsson’s agent has revealed the Swedish attacker is attracting interest but for now his future remains uncertain.

Antonsson scored eight times during a season-long loan spell at Ewood Park which saw him make 34 appearances.

He has a year left on his deal at Elland Road but made just six league starts for Leeds before making the temporary switch to Rovers.

The 27-year-old repeatedly stated how much he had enjoyed his time in East Lancashire and he is keen to remain in English football should the opportunity present itself.

There was a clause in his loan deal to make the move permanent, though Rovers chose not to meet the seven figure fee that was understood to be included.

Clubs in his native Sweden are understood to be keen on a move, though his £16,000 a week wages are likely to provide a stumbling block to that.

Antonsson’s agent, Anders Karlsson, says his client’s future is expected to become clear in the next month.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, he is reported as saying: “Yes, interest is great in Marcus.

“But (as of) today we do not know what Leeds want and he has a year left on his contract.

“I think in a month we will know more.”

Antonsson was allowed out on loan after being frozen out under former Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen.

His successor, Paul Heckingbottom, also faces an uncertain future which is likely to delay any decision over where Antonsson will play his football next season.
