IT was great to pass 6,000 Lancashire League runs on Sunday in the win over Rishton.

It all fell nicely, to do it in a good score and in a game we won was great.

It has been 18 years since I made my debut for Bacup and I am pleased with the achievement, particularly as I top scored with 81 and we won the game.

It wouldn’t have been quite the same in a defeat.

I wasn’t aware of passing 6,000 runs until afterwards. I knew I was pretty close at the end of last season but didn’t actually find out until Sunday night.

It is nice to have reached 6,000 runs, the higher up you go there are not that many people who are there so hopefully I can keep going and add to that number.

I played my 400th game for Bacup the week before and then got to 6,000 runs in my 401st.

I think the appearances give me at least as much satisfaction if not more to be honest. I am pleased to have played so many matches for Bacup and I want to carry on.

I am very thankful for what Bacup have given me and I want to carry on playing for them as long as I can. I am only 35 so I would like to think I can keep going for a few more years yet! I certainly don’t see myself moving anywhere else.

When I first started in 2000 I came into a very successful side, we won the league that season and then did so again in the next two seasons and it was great.

It would be good to try and play my part in getting the club back to those heights, aside from a second place in 2006 we haven’t had too much to shout about but hopefully we are going in the right direction again and it would mean a lot to me if we could get some more silverware to the club.

We have started the season okay so far. I think we are just lacking a little bit of consistency.

We said we wanted to try and be in that mid-table section and be challenging for a place in the split for next year which means we need a top 12 place.

We won our first game but then lost the next three and that is not going to be good enough for the top half so it was important we got the win over Rishton last time out.

It is a fairly congested table at the moment so we know that a few wins can move us up quite a few places.

We have a tough league game against Lowerhouse this weekend but we are all looking forward to it.
