SAM Murray will go for gold in the modern pentathlon world cup today after easing through qualifying.

The East Lancashire ace will be joined in the women's final in Bulgaria by her three Great Britain teammates as Kate French, Francesca Summers and Jessica Varley also made the final.

Murray, a two-time Olympian who won silver in the London 2012 Games, set the second quickest swim time in her group, clocking 2mins 12.83secs to get off to a good start.

The Clitheroe star had a blip in the fencing hall, recording 14 victories from 31 bouts, meaning the 28-year-old was 13th heading into the laser run.

But she finished with a strong performance to cross the line in the main pack and ensure a place in the final, her second world cup showpiece of the season after claiming fifth in Los Angeles earlier in the season.
