CLARETS trio Kevin Long, Jeff Hendrick and Jonathan Walters have been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for friendlies with France and the USA.

All three have remained with Martin O'Neill's side as the Ireland boss trimmed his squad down to 26 players.

Walters's played in the last weekend's 2-2 draw with Celtic in Scott Brown's testimonial, but the 34-year-old hasn't featured for Burnley since a 15-minute cameo off the bench in the FA Cup defeat at Manchester City on January 6.

Ireland travel to Paris to take on France on Monday (May 28) as Didier Deschamps's side continue their preparations for the World Cup, before O'Neill's side face the USA at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday (June 2).
