Tony Mowbray says he has tried to bring honesty and hard work to the Rovers team feeling that is what the fans expect.

Mowbray has enjoyed an excellent relationship with the Ewood Park crowd since taking charge in February 2017.

He has led them to promotion back to the Championship in his first season in charge and was lauded by the supporters at the final whistle.

On his relationship with the fans, Mowbray said: “Any football manager, particularly in modern day football, as you can see with some high profile managers in the Premier League you’re only ever one or two bad results away from negativity.

“I haven’t really felt that, yet as I’ve said before I’m not on social media, I don’t read the newspapers or listen to radio phone-ins.

“I have to focus on my job and I do it how I believe is right.

“Whether there has been much negativity I don’t know, I don’t feel it but I do feel the support of the people who come to the games and see the team.

“I think they want to see the team fight and tackle and chase and close down, win balls, play forward, create chances because Blackburn is like where I am from. I’m from Teesside and it’s an industrial area and they work hard for their money and that’s what they want to see from their football team.

“That’s what I’ve tried to bring to this group of players. I expect them to run and chase and the fans definitely do. If we can add the quality which we’ve got, then it can make the difference.

“We’ve got two games left, no pressure on us, we’ll try and enjoy and go and play.

“We’re quite proud of one defeat in 33 games so we’ll go there and try and keep it going.”
