Rovers are almost there, writes Simon Garner.

Results elsewhere went for them at the weekend and I thought they played well in the second half against Peterborough last Thursday.

I think the season has finally caught up with Shrewsbury. It has probably taken longer than most people expected, so you have to give Shrewsbury a lot of credit. It’s not done yet, but you are 99 per cent sure that Rovers will finish in the top two.

But you have to say hats off to Shrewsbury who have had an excellent season.

When Rovers needed a performance though they came up with one against Peterborough in that second half. The big boys, Danny Graham and Bradley Dack, came through for them. They stand out in that division.

You have to have someone like Dack in your team. It was a gamble from Tony Mowbray to spend that money on him but it is money well invested.

I said at the start of the season it would take them a little while for the players to get used to that division. All teams have wanted to beat Blackburn Rovers and you have to give credit to Tony and the players for adapting as quickly as they did.

What they need to do now is get promotion done as quickly as they can. If they don’t get the result at Doncaster and it drags on there’s the chance they could get nervous, but I don’t think they will.

You want it out of the way though so they can enjoy those last two games.

The Rovers players deserve to do it on their own accord. They have been brilliant this season.

The form they have shown, and the runs they have been on, mean that (along with Wigan) they have been one of the best two teams in the division.

Rovers will be desperate to get out of this league, the bonus would be to win it, but I don’t think they would be bothered if they miss out on the title, it’s just about going up.

Here’s to getting the job done at Doncaster.
