Danny Graham believes Rovers took a ‘massive step forward’ in their bid to win promotion after a second-half comeback against Peterborough United.

Rovers moved eight points clear of third-placed Shrewsbury Town after getting back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against Posh.

The win also saw Tony Mowbray’s men draw level with leaders Wigan, though both the Latics and the Shrews have games in hand.

Ahead of their matches against Fleetwood and Bury though, Graham is delighted that Rovers’ fate is firmly in their hands ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Doncaster.

“I think it’s a massive step forward,” the striker said after netting his 17th goal of the season.

“There’s a lot of pressure on Shrewsbury now, they’re going to have to win three, if not all four, of their games.

“It will be tough for them, but we concentrate on ourselves.

“We will go to Doncaster, put on a good performance and carry that second half performance in to Doncaster and hopefully get three points.”

Rovers now have 90 points from their 43 league games, and have lost just once since October.

The experienced striker added: “It’s a great effort from the boys considering we didn’t start the season well.

“That’s one defeat in 32 games, I’ve never been involved in anything like that, it’s a ridiculous stat and credit to everyone at the club and a big part of that is the fans travelling up and down the country and getting right behind us.”

League One player of the season Bradley Dack scored twice in the victory, either side of Graham’s 83rd minute header.

Dack claimed his fourth man of the match prize in Rovers’ fourth televised games and leads the club’s scoring charts on 18.

Graham and Dack have struck up an excellent understanding this season, though the 32-year-old stopped short of lavishing too much praise on his partner in crime, believing Rovers’ success is down to so much more.

“He’s been massive for us all season but I don’t want to build him up too much,” Graham said of Dack.

“We have three games left and we need him to be at that standard.

“We don’t want to put pressure on him, we know he’s got that in his locker, he’s scored vital goals, his workrate is outrageous and he’s been a massive part of our success.

“But as much as I love Dacky it’s not all about him, it’s how well we’ve done as a team.

“We’re delighted to have Dacky in our team, we wouldn’t have anyone else in our team in that number 10 position and hopefully he can help us over the line.

Graham’s goal with seven minutes remaining, heading in after Dack hit the crossbar, put Rovers ahead for the first time.

Though the striker admits there were a few nervous moments before seeing the ball hit the back of the net.

He added: “It bounced up a little higher than I thought it was going to, but delighted to see it hit the back of the net.

“That’s what I do in training, in games, make sure I follow in and I was delighted to get on the end of it. But it wasn’t about who scored, it was the three points.

“It was a massive feeling, you could see that from the celebration and the way we celebrated with the fans at the end.

“It was a massive three points at this stage of the season, I’m sure Shrewsbury were watching and were delighted with how things were going at half-time but fair play to everyone, we move on to Doncaster now and we want to get three more points.”
