Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe picks out five talking points from the win over Peterborough United

DACK AND DANNY

Bradley Dack deservedly won the League One player of the year award and bounced back from two below-par showings, albeit with a tight hamstring, to score his 17th and 18th goals of a stunning season.

He has four man of the match awards in Rovers’ four televised matches and came up with a big performance when Rovers needed it most. The bigger the stage, the more he seems to thrive.
His impact on this team has certainly coincided with a run of games for Danny Graham leading the line.

Graham now has six direct assists for Dack, while he could claim his involvement has helped produce many more.

The experienced striker has now scored nine times and claimed six assists so far in 2018. Only Liverpool’s Mo Salah can boast a better record of combined stats.

Graham’s chasing back in injury time, and then perfectly weighted pass, saw Dack sweep home his second of the night in the closing stages.

Dack will rightly get all the plaudits, with the club player of the year and goal of the season prizes potentially within his grasp. But without Graham, this Rovers team simply doesn’t function to the same effect.

ALMOST IDENTICAL

It was 3-1, rather than 3-2,this time around, but it was once again a second half comeback which saw Rovers overcome Posh.

Indeed, this win was the only the second time this season that Rovers had trailed at the break and come back to win.  The other being the victory at the ABAX Stadium in December.

In a near identical match, Rovers struggled to contain a free-flowing and fluent Posh in the opening 45 minutes.

Across the two first halves of each match, Posh have arguably caused Rovers more problems than any team in the division.

However, when Rovers got after them, Posh seemed to wilt under the pressure and succumbed to what seemed the inevitable.

Rovers will be eyeing a favour from them on Tuesday however, as they head to Shrewsbury, needing a win to stand any chance of keeping their fading play-off hopes alive.

EWOOD ATMOSPHERE

The best of his tenure was how Tony Mowbray described the atmosphere at Ewood Park in the second half.

Booed off by some at half-time, Rovers roared in to life after the break and jubilant scenes greeted each of the Rovers goals, as well as the final whistle.

Rovers have reduced ticket prices for their final match of the season against Oxford United on May 5, and it is to be hoped this set of players get the crowd they deserve watching them.

It promises to be a day to remember, as there have been so many this season.

It is now 18 unbeaten matches in front of their fans, and no team in the league has won more games, or points, nor scored more goals than Rovers at home this season.

WHERE IT LEAVES THINGS

Rovers twice missed the opportunity to fully stretch their advantage over third-placed Shrewsbury after draws at both Gillingham and Bristol Rovers.

And it looked like a third chance may be going begging after an edgy opening 45 minutes saw them trailing 1-0.

But three unanswered second half goals means Tony Mowbray’s men are eight points clear of the Shrews ahead of their game in hand against Bury.

They also moved level on points with leaders Wigan, albeit the Latics have a better goal difference, and have played a game less.

It is a terrific position to be in, leaving Rovers needing just four points (with goal difference factored in) to ensure it will be just a one season stop off in League One.

They are still yet to go more than two matches without a win so far this season.

BLACKBURN END FOR GOALS

Eight of Rovers’ last nine goals have come at the Blackburn End.

Elliott Bennett said that Rovers always fancy their chances of scoring when attacking that end of the ground and that has shown with the winner against Southend, both against Bury and Bradford, and two of their three goals against Blackpool all coming at that end.

It was also the scene of the second-half comeback against Oldham as Rovers battled back from two goals down.

In contrast, five of their last seven matches attacking the Darwen End have drawn a blank.
