Tony Mowbray is backing star man Bradley Dack to be ‘firing on all cylinders’ against Peterborough tonight after revealing the playmaker is back to his best in training.

The 24-year-old has been substituted in each of Rovers’ last two games having struggled with a tight hamstring.

But, after being named League One player of the year on Sunday, Mowbray says Dack is fully fit ahead of Posh’s visit.

The midfielder has claimed the man-of-the-match awards in each of Rovers’ three televised matches so far this season.

And ahead of their fourth Mowbray said: “I would have to say his last two training days have been the Bradley Dack that I know.

“I’m pretty sure we will have Bradley firing on all cylinders.

“He’s had problems with his hamstrings, as he did at the start of the season. Without being a tear or a strain, they have been problematic to him.

“Only in the last two games have his levels dipped a bit. But in training on Wednesday he hit his best sprint speed that he’s ever hit since he’s been with us and that tells me he’s ready and focussed and I’m looking forward to Bradley performing on Thursday night.”

Rovers will be aiming to move eight points clear of Shrewsbury Town with victory against a Posh side chasing a spot in the top six and who travel to Paul Hurst’s men on Tuesday night.

Rovers have impressed under the Ewood lights this term but Mowbray believes the occasion could also bring the best out of the visitors.

“We have to be mindful of that,” he added. “Every team we play at Ewood we have to beat them at their best.

“The stadium inspires them (away sides), the surroundings, the theatre where (Chris) Sutton and (Alan) Shearer smashed those goals to win the Premier League, it inspires players.

“We have managed the occasions pretty well this season on TV, and I don’t see any reason why we can’t find another decent performance and victory.”

Rovers stormed to three points at the ABAX Stadium in December’s reverse fixture, with three goals in 10 minutes helping them overcome a 1-0 deficit and ultimately earn a 3-2 win.

That game included a goal of the season contender from Dack and handed Rovers a fifth consecutive victory as their season started to gather momentum.

“We scored some exceptional goals, the third right up there with the goals of the season,” Mowbray recalled. ,

“Right from our own corner flag, Craig Conway and then three passes later it’s in the back of their net.

“We were setting a template of how we played. The players were embracing that and taking it on board.

“I have watched back the first goal that Bradley scored, Richie (Smallwood) nicked the ball off their midfielder, they played a combination and then Bradley stuck it in the corner.

“It was a good performance from us, it set the tone.

“We had a huge travelling support and it created a connection between the footballers and the supporters on the terraces who expect us to go places like Peterborough United, with all due respect, because of our history and win. It was great to do that.

“We know the expectation, we have an expectation ourselves, we’re very humble about the way we go about it and respectful about it, but we have to make Peterborough feel our quality on the night.”
