Corry Evans looks set to hand Tony Mowbray a fitness boost ahead of tomorrow's match with Peterborough United at Ewood Park.

The Northern Ireland international has started five consecutive games for Rovers, but limped out of last weekend's 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers with a tight hamstring.

But the 27-year-old, who has impressed alongside Richie Smallwood of late, looks set to be declared fit for the visit of Posh.

Ryan Nyambe (hamstring) remains sidelined and it is in the balance whether or not the young full-back will play again this season.

But of Evans, Mowbray said: “He trained today and looked good so unless there is a reaction which we aren’t anticipating we just think it was fatigue.

“We had a pretty horrific week of travelling so I think a few players felt tight muscles.

“But Corry looks fit to play and I am sure that he will declare himself fit to play.

“We’re looking for Ryan Nyambe to train in the middle of next week so he’s not too far away.

“But with only two weeks of the season left, and he's been out for six or seven weeks, there is a good chance that he won’t be involved.”

Harry Chapman, also hamstring, is a longer-term absentee, while Ben Gladwin (knee) remains out.

But the majority of Mowbray's squad are available for the remainder of the campaign.

And the boss added: “Everyone is anxious to play their part and help us over the line in some important football matches.

“We've done pretty well, touch wood, for most of the season with injuries because the players have wanted to remain fit and great credit to them for that, and to the medical staff for working so hard and maintaining their fitness.

“We have a couple of weeks left, four games, and they have to remain focussed and try and finish off the hard work that has gone in to this season.”
