Congratulations to Bradley Dack on being named as the League One player of the season, writes Simon Garner.

I think that’s brilliant to have a player like that in your squad and shows how important he is.

He’s been carrying a bit of an injury of late but he does have a big influence on this team so hopefully he can be wrapped up in cotton wool.

If he’s only fit enough to play an hour, if he can do something in that hour and win the game for the team then you can get him off and save him for these remaining games.

It’s the second time in three years he has won this award and that shows that he’s ready for the step up.

If Rovers didn’t go up, which I can’t see happening, I think it might be hard to keep hold of him. But hopefully he can fulfil his potential at Ewood Park.

With players now I think you see it too often they try and step up a level and it doesn’t happen for them.

If you do it for two seasons then I think you can prove to yourself, and other clubs, that you’re ready for that step up.

No matter what step up it is, League One to Championship, Championship to Premier League, there is a big difference to see if you can handle stepping up, it is hard.

I remember playing with someone at West Brom, Bob Taylor, he scored goals for fun. He moved up a division to Bolton and he struggled, he couldn’t score as regularly as the division we were playing in at West Brom.

It is harder, particularly when you’re a goalscorer, but I think Dack is ready to step up.

I, like a lot of Rovers fans, will have been following the game on Sky and thought that was it and turned the television off and went down the pub. I text my son saying ‘we’re top again now’ and then all of sudden it’s 1-1. But these things happen.

It is another point on the board and five ahead of Shrewsbury who have to win two matches to overtake them. Even if they win tonight against Charlton then it is still two points.

Games are running out as well which is a good thing for Rovers’ sake. They have to stay positive and I am sure they will.

I think being on Sky on Thursday will bring out the best in them and I think they have the experience in the squad who won’t let this affect them in the final four games.

I would think that Tony has got in to them to keep calm about it all.

Away from Rovers, it’s been interesting to see the debate about Harry Kane claiming the goal against Stoke City on review.

It was easier in my day, I just claimed them! I didn’t have to have a panel review them, I just claimed them.

I said ‘I touched that’ and that was that.

I don’t know if he’s on a bonus to win the golden boot, but as a striker you want to claim any goal you can, I always did and I think that’s how strikers are.

He’s probably lucky that it was Christian Eriksen, and not another striker, who he took it off as he might have had a bit more of a problem.
