It was a night to remember at the EFL awards for Bradley Dack who is now eyeing team glory with Rovers.

Dack was named League One player of the year for a second time, seeing off the competition of Nick Powell (Wigan) and Jack Marriott (Peterborough).

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stunning debut season at Ewood Park, scoring 16 goals, following his summer move from Gillingham.

It was in 2015/16 with the Gills when Dack last won the award which he described as a ‘huge honour’.

Dack had already been named in the League One team of the year, but would make it in to the EFL team which was announced at Sunday’s awards in London.

“I’m absolutely delighted, it’s a huge honour to win this award,” Dack said.

“I couldn’t have done this without my team-mates, the manager and staff at the club, so I’d like to thank all of them. I’m delighted.

“At the start, it was a bit difficult for me to settle in, I had a couple of injuries at the start of the season.

“Once I got going, the players really helped me; I soon settled in and got on the pitch regularly. I found my form and kicked on from there.

“I think my best position is in that number 10 role, where I can get on the ball.

“We play in the final third a lot of the time and that suits me.

“It was a good night but the most important thing now is making sure we get promoted.”

Rovers captain Charlie Mulgrew, who scored for the 13th time this season at Bristol Rovers, was also named in the EFL team of the year. David Raya was named as the goalkeeper in the League One side.

More success for Dack could follow with the club’s end of season honours, including the player and goal of the season prizes, but he will be keen to see Rovers to promotion in their remaining four games.
