Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings from the 2-1 win at Walsall.

David Raya 6

Didn’t get a strong enough contact on his punch which led to the Walsall goal but made two big contributions in the second half.

Ryan Nyambe 5

Troubled by Joe Edwards in the first half and looked uncomfortable in possession at times.

Darragh Lenihan 7

A few nervy moments but things feel a little more secure at the back on the Irishman’s return.

Charlie Mulgrew 7

Coasted through the first half but given some trouble by substitute Ngoy late on as Rovers hung on.

Derrick Williams 7

Morris got little change out of him down the Walsall right but wasn’t given too many opportunities to get forward.

Corry Evans 7

Brought some composure to Rovers’ play in the first half, but struggled to have the same effect in the second before being replaced.

Richie Smallwood 7

Won plenty of second balls in the first half and hassled and harried to good effect after the break.

Elliott Bennett 8

A terrific first-half rampaging down the right, having a hand in both the Rovers goals, before battling it out in the centre of the park late on.

Jack Payne 7

Impressed in the first-half, claiming an assist, and filled the big shoes of Bradley Dack well before drifting out of the game.

Adam Armstrong 7

A threat throughout and put in more than his fair share of work. Would have registered a fifth goal of the month were it not for a fingertip save on to the crossbar.

Danny Graham 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Loves playing against Walsall. It’s four in two games against the Saddlers for Graham who was at times unplayable. Scored two close-range finishes to take him past 150 career goals and his hold-up play was excellent. Came off just after the hour mark after feeling unwell.

Subs

Dominic Samuel (for Graham, 62) 5

Lost possession a little too easily at times but went close to scoring with a downward header.

Marcus Antonsson (for Evans, 67) 6

Put in an excellent cross for Samuel’s header and put in a good shift down the left-hand side.

Amari’i Bell (for Payne, 79) 6

Rovers looked much more secure when switching to a back three after Bell’s arrival.

Subs not used: Jayson Leutwiler, Paul Caddis, Paul Downing, Joe Nuttall
