DAVID Dunn has credited Tony Mowbray with creating a feel-good factor at Rovers and believes the boss has ‘rejuvenated’ the whole club.

Mowbray marked a year in charge of Rovers on Thursday and has led the club to the top of League One with 13 games remaining.

Rovers will be backed by another sold-out away following at Walsall today, something Dunn believes demonstrates the positive outlook at the club.

The Under-23s assistant boss said: “You only have to look at the away following, it’s been fantastic.

“At home you kind of expect it because it’s near to home for people to get to.

“But the commitment the fans are putting in for the away days is excellent. Long may that continue.

“I feel that there’s a feel-good factor and I think Tony, the manager, has to take a lot of credit for that.

“He’s rejuvenated the whole club in my opinion.

“Hopefully we can get to the end of the season and get promoted.”

Dunn worked as part of Mowbray’s first-team set-up last season before returning to the Under-23s in the summer to work alongside Damien Johnson. The pair have led Rovers to the top of Premier League 2 Division Two and into the Premier League Cup knockout stages.

A number of the squad have also graduated to the first-team, something Dunn believes takes priority over results.

He added: “Our league form and the results have been good but that’s really a by-product for the performances of the young players.

“Ultimately the results are secondary, we need to produce players for the first-team, or we produce first-team players for other teams if they don’t quite make it here.

“We’ve had a couple of debuts, a couple of good performances in the first team and hopefully we can get a few more in and around it. But that only happens when you have a manager that is prepared to do it and so far they’ve had a chance with the manager.”

Lewis Travis is one player to have tasted life in the first-team, but is currently serving a three match ban after his red card at Portsmouth.

Dunn added: “He has to learn from it, he’s a committed player, he wants to do really well so he will have to learn and channel it in the right way.”
