WALSALL boss Jon Whitney believes Rovers ‘are where they should be’ in the League One table after moving top of the pile earlier this week.

A 2-0 win over Bury, and Shrewsbury’s failure to beat Gillingham on Tuesday, sees Tony Mowbray’s side travel to the Banks’ Stadium a point clear of the Shrews.

Rovers make the trip to the Saddlers less than four weeks on from their meeting at Ewood Park where a Danny Graham brace and Bradley Dack strike handed them victory.

However, Walsall are unbeaten since, winning twice and drawing the same number and have tasted victory in each of their previous three home matches.

“It’s a mouth-watering prospect for us – a really nice challenge,” Whitney told the Express & Star.

“Tony Mowbray can choose from an array of talent. I think they are where they should be in the table.

“But we’re looking forward to it. There has been an added buzz in training because it’s a challenge. It’s nice when the team top of the table come to town.

“We didn’t really give a good account of ourselves at their place. But we are looking to put that right tomorrow.

“We’ve won three home games on the bounce and we’re looking to keep it going. We’re looking forward to pitting our wits against them.”
