SEAN Dyche insists he will only be signing players who fit Burnley's model during the January transfer window.

The Clarets have made one new addition so far this month, bringing in Georges-Kevin Nkoudou on loan from Tottenham.

A second deal is edging closer as Burnley look to get a permanent deal for Everton winger Aaron Lennon over the line.

But Dyche said any new additions would have to work within the model of the club and be able to affect the team.

"Only if they fit the model that we work to," Dyche said when asked about incomings this month.

"Only if they can affect the team, which is obviously the key principle, they have to fit in the numbers, the way the club is run, so that is the key – we are in a good situation as a club so we have too continue that and choose wisely.

"That is why when you see some of them players we are linked with, it is always interesting I never know how it goes beyond the fact that some are on 100k a week, we aren’t there, trust me."

Dyche will hope to see his squad number boosted ahead of the trip to Newcastle on January 31, with the extended break allowing some players to return to fitness.

Burnley have been battling a minor injury crisis in recent weeks but Scott Arfield was back against Manchester United on Saturday and Stephen Ward and Chris Wood are both making good progress.

"We are still waiting on a couple. We have got that ten days now so we would like to think so but you never know, we will have to wait and see," Dyche said of the injury situation.

"The players who are coming in are doing a good job. You get stretched by injuries but they are coming in and doing a good job, it is not about just looking at the results, they are playing well and I thought there was a very good group of players out there (on Saturday)."

Although the Clarets are without a game this weekend after their FA Cup exit to Manchester City Dyche won't be taking his side abroad, with the trip to St James' Park coming next midweek.

"(We'll) just mix up the week, maybe in the coming weeks (we'll go away) but this week just mix it up, bit of downtime, a bit of work, and getting ready," Dyche said of plans for the week.
