MATCH of the Day pundit Frank Lampard said Burnley would be 'disappointed' with the goal they conceded at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Crystal Palace attacker Bakary Sako scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half, but Lampard felt the Clarets defence were partly to blame for the strike.

The former Chelsea midfielder believes it is the latest in a 'rare lapses' of late after Burnley saw their winless Premier League run extended to six games.

Sako picked the ball up wide on the left for his goal but was able to drive into the area as Phil Bardsley backed off, although Lampard felt the right-back wasn't solely to blame.

"There have been some rare lapses of late, their form has dropped in recent game and they will be very disappointed with the goal, knowing Sean Dyche and how he defends," he said.

"(James) Tarkowski gets involved with (Christian) Benteke, that's not really the problem, they can deal with that, the ball gets played out wide and Phil Bardsley wants to go and engage outside his box and get tight, but he's got no help from behind him so he's scared, he's worried.

"He starts to back off because his mate (Steven) Defour doesn't close the gap and he doesn't communicate. (He should) bring him inside on to his right foot, they don't, Sako shifts it on to his strong left foot and scores a good goal.

"They deserved to win but it's very disappointing for Burnley to concede like that."
