TONY Mowbray says a decision over the future of Liam Feeney will be made in the coming days as the Rovers winger’s loan spell at Cardiff City expires today.

However, it is expected that the 31-year-old will remain with the Bluebirds for the remainder of the season despite having made just three starts for the club.

Feeney is surplus to requirements at Ewood Park and was allowed to leave on loan in August after four appearances in the opening month of the season for Rovers.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock said this week of Feeney: “I think he'll be staying with us until the end of the season”.

And Mowbray said: “Conversations have gone above my head because I wasn’t anticipating him being back.

“I haven’t spoken to Neil but the agents involved suggested that Neil had said they wanted to keep him (Feeney).

“I said ‘right, this is what it will take’.

“I assume that Liam wouldn’t want to come and sit on the bench in League One while he’s third in the Championship at the moment.

“He might not be playing as much as he might want to but he is where he is and I’m sure over the next day or two something will get resolved.

“I’m not losing any sleep over it.

“If Liam Feeney comes back can he do what Harry Chapman did? He’s a wide player, he has some speed, some pace, tricks and can go past people so that’s not the worst scenario for us if that does happen.

“If he stays then good luck to the boy aswell, I’m not sitting here on tenterhooks either way really.”
