SEAN Dyche will make a late call on Ben Mee's fitness this weekend after the centre back required stitches in a cut just above the knee.

The stand-in skipper suffered the knock against Leicester City last Saturday and has had treatment on it this week to try and keep his place in the side for the visit of Watford.

“Ben Mee took a knock and had a couple of stitches just above the knee. It's wait and see," Dyche said.

If Mee isn't passed fit then Kevin Long could make his first Premier League appearance of the season.

A late call will also be made on the fitness of Matt Lowton, who has missed the last two games through injury, with Phil Bardsley impressing in his place.

The fact the Clarets have two games this weekend, with Stoke City at Turf Moor on Tuesday, could influence the decision.

"Matt Lowton is making good progress, tough and go with the game quickly afterwards on Tuesday," Dyche said.

Meanwhile Jon Walters made his return to action this week, with Dean Marney also getting more minutes under his belt and Tom Heaton progressing.

"Walters is making progress, got 50 minutes in an in-house game, Dean Marney got some more minutes in in the in-house game. Tom is making good progress, albeit common sensical progress in the timelines of the style of injury," Dyche added.
