TONY Mowbray is urging his side to learn the lessons from earlier this season to avoid a repeat of the disappointing defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

The Rovers boss is looking to avoid any complacency creeping in to his ranks as they look to complete a hat-trick of wins within a week.

Rovers’ last defeat at home, a 1-0 reverse at the hands of AFC Wimbledon on September 16, brought to an end a four game winning run, their longest so far this season. That also came after two consecutive away wins but they couldn’t make it three within a week against the Dons.

And Mowbray said: “I think they are all dangerous games in this league.

“On the back of some good results earlier in the season we lost to AFC Wimbledon in what was the third game in that week.

“We fell short on that day and we have to guard against complacency.

“Whoever we play against, what do we expect? We expect a tough game, an organised team with big strong physical players and a team that we can’t take lightly.

“We have to guard against any complacency, have to make sure we continue in the same vain that we have been playing away from home but try and transmit it on to Ewood.”

But that won’t be easy, given many teams approach when arriving in East Lancashire, having dropped points at Ewood Park to Plymouth, AFC Wimbledon and Doncaster.

Mowbray explained: “The teams that come to Ewood don’t necessarily have the same demands on them from the supporters to go and attack, push men forward out of their shape as they do on their own stadiums.

“There is generally less space to attack on the transition but we will set up the team to ask questions of them and whether the can deal with a Nuttall, a Graham, a Dack, you have to go and ask some questions of Bristol Rovers and see how we go.

“It’s not as easy at home because of the way the opposition set up

“It would be nice to score a few goals, we scored four against MK Dons earlier in the season and it’s trying to find a formula at home that works for us whether we need to be a bit more direct, sit a bit deeper and break away like an away game, there’s a lot of different criteria you can work out and tactical ways to score goals.

“We will study them, and work out what we think their strengths and weaknesses are and put a game-plan together than can get us the points.”
