CONSISTENCY in results and selection is what Tony Mowbray wants when Rovers return from the international break.

Rovers are without a game this weekend and the players will be afforded two days off before preparations begin for the league game away at Bury on November 18.

Rovers have won just two of their last eight games in all competitions and are almost certain to drop out of the top six this weekend.

Mowbray’s men have had games called off on all three international weekends, but with only one more scheduled this season, the boss wants his side to put together a run of results to challenge the top two.

He said: “There was feet up for one day (Wednesday), they were in Thursday and Friday and then can have the weekend off. We will then have a full week of preparation leading in to Bury and what is going to be a busy time. We’re looking forward to it.

“It’s been stop-start but that’s the international breaks finished until well after the New Year.

“Hopefully we can get some consistency, consistency in selection and try and get the results that we require and be on the front foot, ask questions of other teams and see where it takes it.”

  • RYAN Nyambe’s attacking game is improving all the time, according to Rovers boss Tony Mowbray.

Nyambe is back in the side after a spell out with an ankle injury and has started each of Rovers’ last four League One fixtures, as well as the Checkatrade Trophy game at Rochdale.

And while acknowledging he still has work to do, Mowbray was pleased with the positive signs that the 19-year-old showed, particularly in the first half.

He said: “Nyambe is a beast of a boy, he’s a fantastic athlete.

“There’s still quite a bit to work on with Ryan – his forward passing and seeing attacking runs - but I think that’s improving all the time.

“He was good against Rochdale both with and without the ball, there were a lot of positives there.”

  • ROVERS won’t be taking League Two Crewe Alexandra lightly in the FA Cup second round after being pushed all the way by Barnet in round one, says Ewood chief Tony Mowbray.

On drawing another fourth tier side, he said: “I don’t get up or down about cup draws, you have to play against whoever comes out of the hat.

“It’s good to be at home again, there’s no easy games though as Barnet showed for over an hour. But we can’t stand here and complain, it’s a game against a League Two side and one we should be looking to win and get in the third round.”
