CHORLEY boxer Jack Catterall is confident of securing the British title when he takes on Tyrone Nurse in Leeds tonight.

The East Lancashire ace puts his unbeaten record on the line against Nurse for the British Super-Lightweight belt.

Nurse has won 35 of his 39 fights but Catterall, nicknamed El Gato, believes he will emerge the victor at the First Direct Arena tonight.

The 24-year-old said: "I am feeling really good, to me it is just another fight. It's a good fight for the British title, I have been working hard for it, it has been bubbling for the last 18 months and it will be good to get in there and finally get what I deserve.

"Like every fight you want to put a good fight and you want to knock him out. I am not daft, I am not going to out there swinging and get caught I am going to go out there and box but when I smell blood I am going to look for the kill."

Catterall is hoping the UK belt can provide a springboard to bigger and better things in 2018 and does not see Huddersfield's nurse as a threat to his unbeaten record.

"He's tall and he's got long arms, he moves well and that is it really," said the southpaw. "I don't see too many strengths in him.

Speaking to iFL TV Catterall added: "The possibilities after this fight are massive, it is about focussing on Saturday night and doing a good number on Tyrone and looking good doing it and after that the opportunities will open up and we can sit down and see where we go."
