TONY Mowbray says he is leaving ‘no stone unturned’ in his quest to get Rovers up and running in League One this season.

Rovers are yet to pick up a point from their opening two league games and face a tough trip to Bradford City this afternoon (3pm).

They have been beaten 2-1 and 3-1 by Southend United and Doncaster Rovers respectively, with a Carabao Cup win at Coventry City sandwiched in between.

Rovers are yet to live up to their billing as promotion favourites, but Mowbray is confident that things will start to turn in his side’s favour.

“I’m working hard, trying to leave no stone unturned,” Mowbray explained.

“I analyse, I watch, talk to players, discuss things with my staff, take the training sessions and then go and watch players for recruitment in the afternoons.

“As long as I work hard and feel as though I am contributing, I will get on and keep doing the job and hopefully the results will come through the hard work and effort of the players and staff.

“If they don’t come, I’m not daft, someone else will have a go, but I’m confident that if we keep working hard and don’t worry too much about what other people think.”

Mowbray came in for criticism from a section of supporters for the team, and formation, he selected for the home defeat to Doncaster.

He is likely to mix things up for the trip to West Yorkshire, admitting his players didn’t do themselves justice last weekend.

Mowbray went with a 3-4-2-1 formation against Doncaster, switching from the 4-2-3-1 he selected on the opening day at Southend.

But he feels systems haven’t been behind their two defeats.

He added: “Every supporter I speak to wants to play two up front, which doesn’t guarantee you anything.

“What you need is quality, play forward, run in behind teams, you need to threaten the space behind them, compete.

“I respect every supporter but at the end of the day I pick the team, the formation is one that the players have believed in through pre-season, we have worked hard on and it has given us control of football matches.

“We have given lots of teams lots of problems in that formation but on the day we didn’t play forward, we didn’t run in behind the opposition, enough.

“It wasn’t the formation, it was the fact that we didn’t run in behind, threaten the space or the defence enough.

“I would have to say it’s about the players and not the formations.  Teams win leagues playing a lot of different formations.”

But Mowbray says his quest to get the best out of his side continues.

“We go in to try and win every game,” he said.

“We have lost the two most important in the league.

“We will just try and keep on a level keel, work hard, and try and get results.”
