SEAN Dyche has challenged his new arrivals at Burnley to show him they deserve a place in the starting line-up.

The Clarets chief admits he is having to remodel his squad again this summer, something he has done with success previously at Turf Moor.

Two years ago departures hit the squad but Dyche coped with the loss of Danny Ings, Kieran Trippier and Jason Shackell to build a side that won the Championship title.

Now Michael Keane and George Boyd have left this summer, two key members of Dyche's squad in recent seasons, while the future of others remains uncertain, not least Andre Gray who has just a year remaining on his contract.

Three new faces have already arrived this summer in Charlie Taylor, Jon Walters and Jack Cork.

Dyche feels it is important his squad has plenty of competition and he isn't too concerned about having to reshape his Clarets side again this summer.

"The natural progression of any football club is when players come and go and that is just part of the business," he said.

"We’ve remodelled the side a few times since we’ve been here and we’re probably in that process again, or certainly remodelling the squad, because it’s important the squad has depth and competition.

"Then it’s down to the lads who have shown what they can do already to keep showing what they’re doing and it’s down to the new lads to convince me that they should be playing.

"We want that healthy mixture."
