BOURNEMOUTH have announced the signing of Connor Mahoney from Blackburn Rovers.
The Premier League club have unveiled the winger as their fourth summer signing after his contract at Ewood Park came to an end on June 30.
Mahoney is understood to have signed a four-year deal with the Cherries who say they ‘are continuing to discuss satisfactory compensation with Blackburn’.
Should the two sides not be able to come to an agreement then the fee for Mahoney – who joined Rovers from Accrington Stanley in 2013 – will be set by an independent tribunal.
Bournemouth say that Mahoney will now join up with their Under-23s side.
The 20-year-old rejected Rovers’ offer of a new deal and had been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough already this summer.
But the Lancashire Telegraph revealed last week that Bournemouth had stolen a march in a bid to sign the talented attacker who underwent a medical on the south coast last week before joining in with his new team-mates as they returned to pre-season training yesterday.
The move comes two years after Cherries boss Eddie Howe raided Rovers for Josh King, with the Norwegian finishing last season in red hot form, scoring 13 goals in his last 17 Premier League games.
Mahoney joined Rovers in December 2013 from neighbours Accrington Stanley and would make his debut for the club the following month in an FA Cup replay defeat at Manchester City.
But he leaves Rovers having played just 20 times in the following three-and-a-half years, 11 of which have come since Tony Mowbray replaced Owen Coyle in February.
Head coach Tony Mowbray conceded last month that he was expecting Mahoney to move on this summer despite holding a number of face-to-face meetings with the youngster.
Mowbray felt it would be best for Mahoney’s development were he stay at Rovers, but his four year association with the club has now come to an end.
