BARNOLDSWICK came out on top of their Ramsbottom Cup battle with neighbours Earby, and topped Group Two to earn a place in the quarter finals.

It was the third time the teams had met in the space of a week, and Barnoldswick capitalised on their familiarity by bowling their rivals out for 155, going on to knock off the required runs with 11 overs to spare.

That meant Ribblesdale Wanderers’ trip to Settle would decide the runners up, as washouts in the previous fixtures meant all four teams in the group had something to play for.

Settle were all out for 161, with Will Davidson top scoring with 39. And it proved more than enough as Ribblesdale were skittled for 74.

Brinscall beat Read to head up Group One and reach the last eight after posting 251-8.

Read were always behind the rate and lost wickets at regular intervals. Josh Lavin (52) gave them an outside chance and 36 from only 18 balls from Andrew Rushton kept those faint hope alive, but Read eventually ended 20 runs short of their target.

There was only pride at stake in the game between Salesbury and Stacksteads, who as a junior club were looking to win in their final group fixture to back up their excellent performances in their first two games.

It was not to be for the Rossendale side though, as hosts Salesbury made 244, with Stacksteads only reaching 163 in reply.

Oswaldtwistle hosted junior club Burnley Belvedere in Group Three knowing that victory would guarantee them qualification with top spot. Belvedere got off to a good start but collapsed and were bowled out 105, with Oswaldtwistle going on to record a seven-wicket win.

Whalley progressed in a case of winner takes all in their game against Baxenden, who were bowled out for 107.

Euxton earned their first win of the competition against previously unbeaten Padiham, who were bowled out for 63 in the Group Four clash.

Euxton made short work of their reply and reached their target with 25 overs to spare.

Fensicowles’ total of 270-6 proved too great for rivals Cherry Tree, who fell 52 runs short.

Feniscowles now face a trip to Brinscall in the quarter finals, with Barnoldswick hosting Whalley, Settle travelling to Oswaldtwistle and Padiham hosting Read. The games will take place on June 18, with a reserve date set for June 25.
