LANCASHIRE'S Alex Davies made a match-winning impact on his return to Darwen as he hit 117 to help the Towers to a 220-run victory over East Lancashire.

Davies, batting at four, hit 15 fours and two sixes in his 112-ball knock for the club he grew up playing for before he joined the Red Rose.

But the 24-year-old's innings was not the only highlight for the home side as opener Ammer Mirza made 121 as Darwen posted a daunting 336-6 off 50 overs.

In reply, East Lancashire battled but were never in the run chase as they were dismissed for 116 in the 32nd over with John Turner top scoring with 23. David Bowden took 5-15 for Darwen who climb to second in the table.

Clitheroe remain top of the pile after they beat Great Harwood by 79 runs.

Alam then collected 6-19 as Great Harwood were bowled out 175 despite a fine 70 from their paid man Ashen Silva.

Elsewhere, Burnley got the better of Lowerhouse thanks to a fine display from Chris Holt.

He took 5-41 as Lowerhouse made 168-8 off their 50 overs and then made 42 in an opening stand of 85 with Liam Bedford who went on to make 65 to help Burnley reach their target for the loss of six wickets with more than six overs to spare.

Defending champions Ramsbottom enjoyed a seven wicket win over Rawtenstall.

The home side are still looking for their first victory of the season after they were bowled out for 106. Benjamin Excell top scoring with 23.

Imran Abid then took 3-43 but 43 from opener John Fielding saw Rammy home inside 24 overs.

Fergus Bailey produced a devastating spell of bowling for Enfield as he took 7-11 off nine overs to inspire his side to a comfortable win over Accrington.

It was a similar story at Haslingden where Phil Hayes was the hero as his 59 not out guided his side to a seven wicket success over Bacup as the hosts chased down their target of 123 with 17 overs to spare.

Nelson staged a stunning recovery to beat Colne by two wickets.

Professional Unmukt Chand blasted 138 for Colne as they posted 226-9 from 50 overs despite five wickets for Caleb Grant.

And when Nelson slipped to 42-6 and then 86-7 in reply it looked like it was game over. But when number nine Zain Abbas joined Russell Bradley the match began to turn. The pair put on 97 for the eighth wicket before Bradley fell five runs short of his century and with 43 still needed for victory the game was in the balance once again.

But Abbas kept his cool and his unbeaten 71 from 66 balls saw Nelson over the line with more than three overs to spare.
