READ maintained their 100 per cent start to the Ribblesdale League Twenty20 with a thrilling final ball victory over Ribblesdale Wanderers on Friday night.

It was a match dominated by the batsman as Ribblesdale Wanderers made 200-3 batting first with Bernard Vorster hitting 88 off 55 balls and Brendon Louw 66 off 56.

But Read responded well with Matt Walker making 41 and it was Ben Gorton who took the glory as he hit the winning runs off the last ball of the game to finish on 63 not out.

But the win was not enough to take Read to the top of the group one table as Barnoldswick fought back to beat Whalley.

Barlick made 166-4 batting first with Abdul Saddique hitting 61 and professional Shashrika Pussegolla making an unbeaten 64.

Whalley threatened to canter to victory as openers Stuart Crabtree (50) and Sam Sweeney (40) put on 112 for the first wicket.

But after that pair departed wickets began to fall at regular intervals and the visitors closed on 148-6, 18 runs short.

Earby picked up their first win of this season's competition when they defeated Padiham by 26 runs.

A second wicket stand of 79 from Matt Nutter (62) and Luke Hipgrave (64 not out) helped the hosts to 164-6 and that proved to be more than enough as Padiham, finalists in 2016, suffered their second straight defeat in the competition despite 32 from professional Brady Barends.

Settle were without a fixture.

Salesbury are setting the pace in group two after they defeated Euxton to make it two wins from two.

The home side made 132-6 off their 20 overs on Thursday night and then some tight bowling and excellent fielding helped them restrict the visitors to 113-6 to secure a 19-run success.

Baxenden got off the mark in style with a commanding victory over Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

Abrar Hamed hit an incredible 120 off just 58 balls at the top of the order in a knock that included 11 sixes. That helped help the hosts to 206-3 and Oswaldtwistle never looked like reaching their target as they closed on 119-8 with Elliot Simpson starring with the ball as he took 4-6 from four overs.
