SEAN Dyche insists the uncertainty over Joey Barton's availability in recent weeks won't have an impact on how his team line-up at Crystal Palace.

Barton was hit with an 18-month ban from all final activity on Wednesday after a Football Association hearing into a charge relating to betting offences.

He had faced the hearing last Friday at Wembley and had seen it adjourned without a final decision, allowing him to play against Manchester United at Turf Moor.

The ban begins immediately and rules the 34-year-old out of the trip to Selhurst Park, but Dyche said he hadn't had to prepare a separate side for the game, with the rest of his midfielders knowing how to operate in that role.

He named Jeff Hendrick and Ashley Westwood as others who could perform Barton's role in the side, but Belgium midfielder Steven Defour was not mention.

"The way we try and format the team in any shape is - this is the role of the person in that shape, not you, it's whoever's in that role, that's what I want from that role," the Clarets chief said.

"If it was Westy, Jeff, Joey, you'll have your own version but the basic principles of the role in that team are do this, do that and then it's for you to do that and add your bit of individual style to that situation. No, it's not specific to Joey, more specific to the team role."
