BURNLEY’S James Tarkowski has spent more time on the bench this season than any other outfield player in the Premier League, research from online gambling company bwin shows.

Tarkowski, who joined the Clarets in February last year, has made 19 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side this season but five have come in cup competitions and he has yet to start a top flight game.

This means the 24-year-old has spent a combined total of two days, one hour and 32 minutes on the bench, more than any player in Europe’s top five leagues.

Tarkowski’s Clarets team-mate Jon Flanagan also features in the list with the Liverpool loanee having spent one day, 12 hours and 13 minutes on the bench so far this season.

That places the 24-year-old ninth in the Premier League standings. He has made nine appearances since joining the Clarets in the summer but four have come in cup competitions although he has started three top flight games this term.

Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi and Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno are second and third in the list having spent a combined three days, 23 hours and 50 minutes on the bench this season, while former Clarets loanee Nathaniel Chalobah also finds himself in the top 10.
