BURNLEY'S Michael Keane has been nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year award.

The Clarets defender has impressed this season at the heart of the Burnley back four with his form helping him earn international honours.

The 24-year-old made his debut in the friendly with Germany last month before a competitive bow against Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier.

Keane faces competition from Tottenham pair Dele Alli and Harry Kane, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

Kane and Lukaku are also on the senior shortlist alongside Chelsea pair N'Golo Kante and Eden Hazard.

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic complete the six man shortlist.

The winners will be announced at Grosvenor House in London on Sunday, April 23.

Having won last season's Women's Super League crown without losing a game, Manchester City are understandably well represented for the women's Player of the Year prize.

England right-back Lucy Bronze is joined by the club's top scorer Jane Ross and midfielder Jill Scott. Alongside the City trio on the six-woman shortlist are Birmingham City's Ellen White, Chelsea's Karen Carney and Liverpool's Caroline Weir.

City also have three players on the Young Player of the Year shortlist with Nikita Parris joined by Georgia Stanway and Keira Walsh.

Chelsea's Millie Bright also features along with Weir and Birmingham's Jess Carter.
