JASON Lowe says the international break will provide the Blackburn Rovers players with the chance to recover mentally and physically after a hectic schedule of games.

Saturday’s draw with Preston was Rovers’ seventh game in just over three weeks, a run which the skipper labelled ‘very demanding’.

Rovers aren’t in action until the trip to Brighton on April 1, the first of seven games in 28 days.

And Lowe admits the international break will be welcomed, despite Rovers going in to it seven games unbeaten under head coach Tony Mowbray.

“It has been difficult, seven games in three weeks mentally means it’s difficult to be concentrating for every day with the travel as well,” the 25-year-old said.

“It has been very demanding. But it’s the same for every team and it is difficult, any player will probably tell you that you’re not 100 per cent in every game but what you can do is give your all on the field. This is a time to switch off and let the body recover.

“But we’re going to have to work on areas that we will have to improve on going forward.”

And Lowe is hoping that some extra time on the training ground will allow time for Mowbray to get more of his messages across.

Rovers are yet to lose since the former West Brom boss took charge at Ewood on February 22.

But having played seven times since then there has been little time for the manager to work with the players on the Brockhall training pitches, with much of the time spent on video-based sessions.

And Lowe hopes that will change in the next fortnight.

He added: “He’s probably come in during one of the busiest spells of the season and we have done a lot of work, as much as we possibly could have done.

“We’ve done work on the opposition and on how we want to play in each game and this is a chance to do our work.

“It’s a time to recover as well, mentally probably more than physically.”
