STEVEN Defour has returned to training with Burnley but remains absent for the trip to Hull City, as does Johann Berg Gudmundsson after tweaking a medial ligament against Lincoln City.

Defour has been out with a hamstring injury since limping off in the 1-0 against Leicester City on January 31, and while he is now back in full training the trip to the KCOM Stadium has come too soon for the Belgium midfielder.

Gudmundsson limped off just 20 minutes into the FA Cup defeat against Lincoln last weekend after being fouled by Imps midfielder Alan Power and scans have shown it to be a knee problem.

"Steven Defour is back on grass, which is good," said Clarets chief Sean Dyche.

"It's been slightly longer just because it was kind of into the tendon knee injury, rather than bulk of the hamstring. That's settled now. He was on the grass today (Thursday).

"It's now about building up strength of where the injury was, and fitness.

"Johann unfortunately has tweaked his medial ligament after the challenge last week so he definitely won't be fit for weekend, we're not thinking it's too drastic, but we're hoping that settles down quickly.

"Popey (Nick Pope) would have played last week but he turned his ankle on Friday. Just in a fall after catching the ball, landed funny. That needs to settle down. He won't be ready for the weekend."
