BLACKBURN Rovers captain Jason Lowe is relishing the chance to face a star-studded Manchester United team in the FA Cup and says the players are ready to give a good account of themselves at Ewood Park.

Lowe feels there is nothing to lose and everything to gain for Rovers when they take on the current holders on home turf this afternoon (4.15pm).

And the 25-year-old – who started the Premier League clashes against United in 2011/12 – is looking forward to the opportunity to facing a top-class team again.

He said: “When you’re watching the draw or listening to it on the radio, that’s the one you want – you want one of the big lads at home. It will be a fantastic atmosphere.

“These are the games you want to be playing in. It’ll be a great test for us and one that all the lads are looking forward to.

“The pressure is off really, we’re underdogs in the game so it’s everything to gain for us.

“The league is the bread and butter for us this year.

“We need to stay in the league and we’re going to do everything we can to do that.

“It’ll just be good to get out there and test yourself against some top players and hopefully we can get a positive result.”

Having played on Thursday night against Saint-Etienne in the Europa League, it is likely that United will make a significant number of changes to their team at Ewood Park.

But Lowe insists that whatever side Reds Devils boss Jose Mourinho fields, it will make for a difficult match.

He continued: “They’ve got some top, top players so it doesn’t matter whether they rotate or not, I don’t think. They’re obviously going to be a well-drilled outfit and we’re going to have to be on our mettle and hopefully they have an off-day.

“They’re top international players and have been for years so it’ll be a great test for any level that you’re playing at, when you’re playing teams that are at the top end of the Premier League.

“From a player’s point of view it’s exciting – probably as much as the fans – and hopefully we will give a good account of ourselves, collectively and individually.”

Lowe also believes a good performance could give a much-needed boost to Rovers’ indifferent league form ahead of crucial run of matches.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to just build some confidence around the place again,” Lowe said.

“We’ve got a fantastic team spirit but when you’re winning games, it gives you that bit more of a step in your stride.

“Anything can happen on the day.”
