RYAN Nyambe is under starter's orders to make his full Championship debut for Blackburn Rovers as they welcome Huddersfield Town to Ewood Park on Saturday.

Manager Owen Coyle admits he wouldn’t hesitate to play the teenager as he looks to fill the right-back void left by the suspended Ben Marshall.

Coyle would have liked to have gone same again after last weekend’s win over Newcastle, but a fifth booking of the season for Marshall sees him ruled out, and offers an opportunity elsewhere to slot in at full-back.

The Rovers boss admits he does have options, not least moving Jason Lowe back from central midfield, but says the simplest of the change would be to hand the 18-year-old a full debut.

“We have the option of moving one or two players about,” Coyle said, “but the simple option comes in the form of young Ryan Nyambe who came on against Brentford and was in the 18 last week.

“If we do decide to go with Ryan then it won’t faze me one minute because I truly believe in him and think he’s going to be a very big player for Blackburn Rovers.

“Of course he’s young, but he came on against Brentford and did very well.

“We’re certainly a club, and I’m a manager, that loves to promote young players when they’re good enough to play so if that’s my final decision then it won’t faze me.”

Nyambe was an unused substitute at St James’ Park last weekend, a week after making his Championship debut in the 3-2 win over Brentford.

He has also featured for Rovers, from the start, in each of their three Checkatrade Trophy fixtures, and played all but eight minutes of the EFL Cup defeat at Leeds United on September 20.

With Adam Henley currently sidelined by a hamstring injury, using skipper Lowe at right-back is another option.

However, Coyle has been pleased with his partnership in the middle of the park with Corry Evans in recent weeks and would prefer to make just the one change at right-back, rather than several other changes around the team.

He added: “Jason and Corry have been a huge part of what we’ve been doing the last couple of weeks.

“They have that real energy to get about the pitch.

“I’ve been there myself like Jason where when playing a new position you get that freshness. He performed there in the Premier League and did it very well in the middle of the park and he’s done that very well.

“The simple thing is to make just the one change and bringing Ryan in at right-back rather than shuffling three or four players.

“When we have a bit of continuity and consistency of selection then the simple thing is to slip the young right back in and with Ryan Nyambe I have no doubts because the kid can play.

“He will get better as we go. I had no fears about throwing him on against Brentford the other week, he handled that really well, and he has a good temperament.

“We have no fears about playing Ryan Nyambe.”

A first Championship start for Nyambe would likely be an early birthday and Christmas present thrown in to one for the teenager who will celebrate his 19th birthday on Sunday.
