SEAN Dyche has called on Burnley to reproduce their Turf Moor form away from home after another miserable afternoon on the road.

The Clarets have lost every Premier League away game this season, conceding nine goals in the process, and Dyche knows they have to find a solution to their away day woes before it’s too late.

Burnley have taken all of their points at home so far this season, and Sam Vokes 72nd minute penalty was the first goal they have scored on their travels this term.

They will look to bounce back to winning ways at home to Everton next weekend, but Dyche knows they also have to find a way to pick up points away from home.

“We’re still trying to develop a group, and they’re developing through the knocks as well,” he said.

“At home we’ve looked a much stronger unit in terms of how we’ve gone about it, away from home we’re still searching for that real freedom to go on and take on the challenge. We’re still a bit edgy and sort of unsure of ourselves.

“At home I think there is a nice security about what we’re doing, so that’s got to come and it’s got to come quickly.”

Burnley remain a point outside their relegation zone and they have been handed a tough start to the season, with trips to Chelsea, champions Leicester and now Southampton already under their belt.

It doesn’t get any easier though, with Manchester United next up away from home.

“We’re already eight games into the Premier League season and we’re going to need points away from home as well as at home, so it’s important that the team grows to understand that,” said Dyche.

“But we’re coming to good teams, Chelsea, Leicester, and these are decent, make no mistake. They have a good threat and good players.

“We’re once again newcomers to the Premier League and there is a gap - a big gap.

“We’ve tried to alter that with spending some money, but it’s not about spending £20m, it’s about spending £80m to try and get quality in.

“We have to try and piece it together and add to the glue that’s held us together to get here. We have to develop as we do it, and that’s a big challenge to piece it together each week. There’s a disconnect at the moment from performances at home and away.”

Dyche was furious that Burnley were denied a clear penalty in the first half with the game still goalless when Johann Berg Gudmundsson was tripped by Virgil van Dijk, only for Mike Dean to wave those appeals away.

“On the day I thought they were too strong overall, after they had a really good first 12/15 minutes, I thought we got to grips with it a little bit then and slowed them down,” he said.

“We had a couple of maybes ourselves, and then the big defining point is the penalty.

“It’s impossible it’s not a penalty, simple as that.

“We struggled two years ago to get decisions, and we’re struggling so far this season.

“The first game of the season against Swansea, impossible it’s not given, and we all know what happened against Arsenal, then today.

Burnley were also dealt a blow when Steven Defour limped off with a hamstring injury five minutes before half time, but Dyche said it was too soon to say whether the Belgian international would be fit for the Turf test against Everton on Saturday.

“I don’t know yet, it’s too early to say,” he said.

“I think it’s a hamstring, so it’s too early to tell the severity.”
