BLACKBURN Rovers will be without four first-team players for this Saturday’s clash at home to Rotherham United – and are waiting on the fitness of a further four.

Charlie Mulgrew (calf) and Adam Henley (hamstring) are definitely out after joining Anthony Strokes (knee) and Elliott Ward (ankle) on the sidelines.

And, while Elliott Bennett will return to the squad, Rovers boss Coyle also has doubts over Tommie Hoban, Danny Graham, Corry Evans and Marvin Emnes.

Hoban limped off in Tuesday’s 2-1 loss at Leeds United after hurting his hip while Graham was substituted after the pain of the ankle injury he has been playing with became too much to bear.

Emnes, who scored his first goal for the club after coming on for Graham, and Evans are also nursing knocks from the defeat.

Coyle said: “We have a number of injury concerns but that happens with every team up and down the country.

“We just have to ascertain who is available and pick a team that can go and win.”

Mulgrew was taken off 34 minutes into his Rovers debut in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at QPR and has since had a scan.

Coyle, whose side who head back to Leeds on Tuesday for an EFL Cup third-round tie, said:  “Charlie will miss a number of weeks.

“He’s been responding well to treatment but Saturday and next week will probably be too soon for him.”

Henley suffered a fresh setback two minutes into his comeback match for Rovers development squad on Monday.

Coyle said: “Because he’s an explosive player, and because his pace is a big asset, there’s no doubt that’s going to be a number of weeks.”

But Bennett, who was also making his return from a hamstring injury, came through 76 minutes of the 2-0 win over Norwich City at Ewood Park.

Coyle said: “We will add Elliott to the squad. Whether he’s ready to be involved from the outset we’ll have to look at it because we don’t want players picking up injuries again.

“It’s good to have him back. He’s a bubbly character, infectious, a real team player, and he’s certainly added to the quality of the training.”
