WHAT a fantastic victory for Sean Dyche’s men on Saturday and one that shows how they need to go about their business in the Premier League this season, writes Paul Weller.

After the previous week of losing at home to Swansea, the next two fixtures were a tough challenge and to come out with a 2-0 win against a top team like Liverpool was excellent.

The Reds have had an unbelievable recent run. They’ve beaten Arsenal, they’ve beaten Barcelona, they were on fire.

So it’s a massive boost and gives everybody around the clubs and the fans a belief that Burnley can do well in this league.

Dyche’s side aren’t one that’s going to keep the ball for long periods.

They didn’t do that last season in the Championship and they’re certainly not going to do it in the Premier League.

Sometimes they like to go direct and sometimes it’s not pretty, but you’ve got to play to your strengths. It might upset a few of the big boys, but that’s what Burnley do and they do it very, very well.

They are very hard to beat. They have two fantastic banks of four and a fantastic goalkeeper as well.

Liverpool had 81 per cent of the possession but you can have as much of the ball as you want - unless you get in the final third and hurt people then you’re never going to beat teams like Burnley.

Stats for me mean nothing, apart from one - goals.

Clean sheets are brilliant and your strikers scoring - they are the two most important things.

So to have Sam Vokes and Andre Gray both open their Premier League accounts so early on is huge.

And they’re not getting off the mark against just anybody, they’re getting off the mark against Liverpool, so they must be buzzing this week and it’s an absolute bonus for them to do that.

They’ve worked well the last 12 months. Vokes is a target man but does drop into the hole at times, and Burnley playing on the counter attack really does suit Andre Gray.

He likes to run in behind and when you’re defending deep it creates a lot of space for your strikers to do that. He will love it.

It’s all about the winning habit and tomorrow night’s cup game at Accrington is an important game for Clarets. It’s a derby and Stanley see it as an opportunity to beat their neighbours.

I know it’s a big windfall for them, but Burnley need to keep going in the cup because they are a Premier League team now.

Yes, they might rest a player or two, and I know there’s a few players knocking on the door to get in the team, but it’s a really important for Burnley to let everybody know they mean business this season.
