FORMER Burnley defender Kieran Trippier insists he is not thinking of leaving Tottenham as he looks forward to the challenge of Champions League football next season.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Southampton this summer, who were also interested in Trippier when he left Turf Moor for £3.5million last summer.

But the former Manchester City trainee, who is currently in Australia with Mauricio Pochettino's side, said he has no plans to leave White Hart Lane.

"I have not heard anything," he said. "I have been in Australia so I don’t know where all this came from. It has certainly not come from me.

"I’ve been down here just focusing on training and playing. I’m looking forward to the new season with Tottenham and playing in the Champions League.

"I am really happy at the club. We have great lads, a great manager and great staff all around the place and I am not thinking of leaving."

Trippier, who has tended to play second fiddle to Kyle Walker since joining Tottenham, is relishing his first taste of Champions League football next term.

"I am so pleased I now have this second opportunity to play in the tournament with Tottenham," he said. "As a footballer you want play as the highest level you can and the Champions League would certainly tick that box. I now have that chance with Tottenham and I want to take that opportunity.

"I learnt so much last season, especially about the quality of player we have in our squad. I also learnt a lot about my own position. It was a great experience for me to play in the Europa League against teams from different places with different ideas on how to play the game."
