SOME shocked Rovers fans got the chance to speak to manager Owen Coyle and three of his players when they manned the phones in the ticket office.

Danny Graham, Craig Conway and Jason Lowe joined the boss after signing up to the sales team at Ewood Park.

The foursome spent half-an-hour taking and making calls to prospective season ticket holders and fans wanting to buy a seat for first game of the season against Norwich City on August 6.

And Rovers boss Coyle said he felt it was important that he and members of the first team squad were able to speak to supporters.

He said: “It was fun. Blackburn Rovers has a fantastic fanbase, so I think it’s always important that you touch base and understand the feeling of the fans moving into a new season.

“So it was great for myself and the players to come here, and I really enjoyed it.

“There was a lot of inquisitive questions, such as, ‘How’s the team doing?’, and, ‘Who are we going to sign?’.

“I loved that because it tells us that there’s a genuine interest and the fans love their club, and that’s what we’re here for.

“The supporters come year in, year out - they’re loyal, they get behind their team.

“We want to encourage that because what we want to have is Ewood Park being a fortress again, where teams come and they feel intimidated because of the atmosphere.”

Some of those who’d received calls voiced their surprise on social media.

Alan Holt (@alanholt7) tweeted: “Just had Owen Coyle on the phone. Fair play to him. What a bloke. Up the Rovers.”

Andy Atkin (@Andy_Atkin) posted: “Actually thought it was a wind-up when somebody rings your phone at work and say it’s Danny Graham! Cheers for the call!!!!”
