SARAH Varley and Alan Dewhurst have dominated the Norman Niven handicap trophy having won it the last three years between them.

And one of them was to lift the trophy again as they met in the final at Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling Club at the weekend.

And it was Varley, winner in 2013, who emerged triumphant, running out a convincing 21-5 winner to deny Dewhurst a hat-trick of honours.

There was another good turnout in the competition which was again organised by Chris Snape.

Varley was in fine form throughout the day, beating Alan Threlfall 21-15 in the quarter-finals and then Mark Graham 21-17 in the semi-finals.

Dewhurst, winning in 2014 and 2015, reached his third straight final thanks to an 21-4 win against Lillian Tomlinson in the quarter-finals and then beating Gordon Dixon 21-17 in the semis,

The trophy was presented to Varley by Duncan and Marion Niven.
